Winners of the Art Contest - “By the Light of the Moon: Insects at Night”
The Kansas State Pesticide Safety and IPM program hosted an insect-themed art contest for all ages in the state of Kansas. The goal was to explore which insects are active or inactive at night and why. For the 2024-2025 school year, there were three winners from Hoxie Junior High and High School. For the 9th through 12th grade group, freshman Lillie Denio received 2nd place; she was awarded a certificate and a cup. For the 6th through 8th grade group, 8th grader Jordan Dardis placed 2nd and received a certificate and cup, and 7th grader Campbell Scanlon was awarded “Most Creative” and received a certificate and “Wacky Entomologist” deck of cards. Congratulations to all!
