Hoxie Students Compete in Topeka Zoo Art Contest
Congratulations to freshman Viley Pridey on winning the Topeka Zoo art contest for the 9th to 12th grade division! Students were tasked with drawing an image to raise awareness of a real-life conservation issue. Viley’s poster was a drawing of a sea turtle with a title, “Save Their Homes, Save the Sea Turtles.” She wanted humans to be aware of the need to keep the oceans clean for sea life. This was Hoxie’s third year entering this contest, and the third year in placing in this age division. Viley received a certificate and her choice of a family zoo membership, a painting done by an animal, or a $40 gift certificate at the zoo’s gift shop. Her poster was on display at the zoo during the “Party for the Planet” celebration until April 18th. Hoxie High School sophomore art student, Brianna Villa, received an honorable mention in the contest.
