Docent for the Day at the Historical Society
The Hoxie 8th graders were "Docents (experts) for a Day" at the Sheridan County Historical Society. This project involved students visiting the historical society and finding an item that interested them. Next, the students researched the item from materials to modern-day equivalents. Then, the students created a poster with some of their information and images. Finally, students wrote a speech about the historical item. Students presented their findings on Nov. 22nd to the 7th graders, parents, and some historical society board members. This project links the past to the present and students work on researching, critical thinking and presenting skills.
