I'm sure that the children have told you about the class store.  I have used this behavior program for the past several years.  I have truly seen it work magic within the room.  In short, the children earn play money for positive behavior.  It is such a flexible program that fits almost any personal or group situation.  The children collect their money and are allowed to shop when the store is opened for business.  The trinkets have been donated by the first grade families and friends.  It is a great excuse to clean out the closets and drawers while helping the children take ownership in the program.  When the children bring an item they get to show it to the class and then place it in the store.  It is a great recycling opportunity.  I could go on and on with the skills that are slipped into the day without the children realizing it.

Here is a chance for your child to earn some dollars.  When there is a story or poem that has been sent home the children may read it to family or close friends.  They are often stories that I have run off on the copy machine.  Each time they read it, the listener is asked to sign the cover.  They may earn up to five dollars for each item.  We are focusing on fluency and expression.  All of the extra practice makes such a difference.

Thanks for all of your support.
