We will understand that color words are adjectives that describe nouns.
Reading
Comprehension: cause and effect
Phonics: the sound of ar as in arm
Spelling: words spelled with ar
Math – Money
Children will:
- Learn coin and dollar bill relationships.
- Apply money concepts to find the value of a group of coins.
- Apply addition and subtraction to money amounts.
- Develop and apply problem solving skills.
Counting mixed coins is always a first grade challenge. They do so well when the coins are alike, but they are easily thrown when we mix things up. If you ever have a moment this would be a great thing to practice.

Social Studies – Citizenship
Children will:
- Identify characteristics of good citizenship as demonstrated by ordinary people.
- Identify different kinds of groups.
- Explain the need for groups to have rules.
- Summarize what it means to belong to a group.
Science – Energy Everywhere
- Describe different sources of energy and heat.
- How do people use energy?
- What are some different types of energy?
- What is heat?
We didn’t get to this last week. We were having too much fun with the magnets. We will get to energy this week.
