Junior High Scholars Hit the Road for Second Competition

Both teams 4-4 for the day

by Julie Carter

February 04, 2010

Twelve seventh and eighth grade students traveled to Grant Junior High in Goodland on February 1 for their second competition of the season.  Each team won four of eight games.  The balance between wins and losses is deceiving however, as several games were very close and one was lost on a last second challenge by the other team.

Jalyn Shaw was high scorer for the eighth graders with 130 points; Katherine Haffner was second with 120.  Other team members included Mitchel Johnson, Levi Wood, Lacie Campbell, and Alex Haffner.

Top scorer for the seventh grade was Mark Schippers with 140 points. Landee McKenna scored 80 points and Noah Phillips 60 points.  Other team members attending were Wade Niermeier, Kylie Wood, and Lisa Stone.

Other schools attending the meet included Brewster; Burlington, Colorado; Cheylin; Colby; Oakley; Rawlins County; and two teams from Goodland.  Thanks to Lori Farber who drove the bus and acted as assistant coach for the seventh grade team.
