Qualified Admissions
In 1996, the Kansas House of Representatives adopted the Qualified Admissions Statute which changed the admissions process for students wanting to attend one of the six Kansas State universities (Fort Hays State University, Emporia State University, Pittsburg State University, Kansas State University, University of Kansas and Wichita State University).
The Qualified Admissions Statute established three ways a graduating high school senior could qualify for admissions to any of the Kansas State universities.
State of Kansas students must meet the following requirements to be guaranteed admission to any of the six Kansas State universities:
- Graduate from an accredited high school; AND
- Achieve an ACT composite score of 21 or above (or SAT score of 980); OR Rank in the top one-third of the high school graduating class; OR Complete the Qualified Admissions curriculum with at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 grading scale.
