Reading Deck

We are on unit 9 in our reading series.  The stories we are reading in this unit during reading center time are about animals.  We are focusing on the letters G and W this week.

Math Deck

Subtracting from numbers up to 10, subtracting money, looking for patterns in subtraction and subtracting in both vertical and horizontal form are areas we have focused on this week in math.

Social Studies/Science Deck

In science, we made magic touch bags and GAK.  When you make GAK you take two liquids and stir them together and they become a solid.  In social studies, we are working with maps of the United States and Kansas.

Events/ Etc…

  •      Mark your calendar for our kindergarten graduation ceremony, Monday, May 12th, at the HS auditorium at 7:00 p.m. and the K-6 spring concert held on Monday, April 14th, at 7:30 p.m.in the HS auditorium.

  •        GAK (a.k.a. FLUBER) Recipe

8 oz. Elmer’s Glue

8 oz. water

1 tablespoon Borax

8 oz. hot water

food coloring

Mix 8 oz. glue with 8 oz. water.  Add a few drops of food coloring if desired.  In a separate container, mix 8 oz. of hot water and one tablespoon Borax.  Let cool.  In a third bowl, combine ½ cup glue mixture with two tablespoons of the Borax mixture.  Mix only ½ cup at a time… won’t work otherwise.  The two liquids will solidify.

(I have Borax here at school if you don’t have any.  If you want me to send you a tablespoon full home, just let me know.)
