FFA ELEMENTARY FARM DAY

Erin F. and Kalyna Z.

December 12, 2006

On December 6th, the Hoxie FFA had a successful Elementary Farm Day.  The consisted of inviting the Kindergarten through fourth grade students to the High School Ag. shop to learn about farm critters.  The critters consisted of a horse, holstein calf, piglet, goats, sheep, chickens, miniature donkeys, and farm dogs.  The children learned what these animals are used for after they have been raised on the farm.  The students were led through stations where an FFA member would explain important facts about the animals.  The students learned different age/gender terms of the animals, what the animal eats on a daily basis, and other interesting facts about the livestock.  At the end of the session, the class got together and reviewed what they had learned through the activity.
