Junior High "B" Volleyball - NWKL Tournament

The Junior High “B” Volleyball team traveled to Goodland on Thursday, Oct. 19, to compete in the NWKL tournament. The B team failed to win a match but played well. The Hoxie B team, consisting mainly of sixth graders, played in the seventh grade division.
In the first match, Hoxie played against the top-seeded Oakley Wildcats. Oakley won the match, 9 – 25, 11- 25.
The Lady Indians were defeated by the Quinter Bulldogs in the next match, 21 – 25, 15 – 25.
The final match of the tournament pitted the Lady Indians against the Goodland Mustangs. The Lady Indians fell behind early but pulled within one point at 19 – 20. The Mustangs then served the next five points to win 19 – 25. The Lady Indians again played tough in the next game but were defeated 19 – 25.
Coach Christy Juenemann stated, “The girls showed marked improvement from the beginning of the season, especially in serving. During the tournament, we played very aggressively and passed very well. I was very proud of the girls’ effort.”
