Jr. High Indians Lose a Close One
The Hoxie Jr. High Indians lost a close game to the Colby Eagles on September 14th. The Indians kicked off to start the game. The Eagles moved the ball and were finally stopped. The Indians got the ball and drove. Dillon, with some good blockers in front of him, went all the way for an Indian touchdown. Both teams were struggling to move the ball. Colby scored on a long run to tie the game at 6-6. Colby failed to get the 2-point conversion. Hoxie getting the ball back and starting on their own 25-yard line, slowly moved the ball up field. The Indians fumbled on a handoff. The Eagles picked it up and returned it to the endzone to score a touchdown, but failed to get the 2-point conversion, making the score 12-6. The Indians got the ball and returned it to about the 30-yard line. Hoxie was driving and finally got stopped around the 50-yard line. The Eagles came back and scored on a run. Colby was stopped by the Hoxie defense on their 2-point conversion.
After the halftime, the Indians got the ball back and scored with Dillon taking it the distance for an Indian touchdown. After Hoxie kicked off, the Eagles were having trouble moving the ball. The Indians got the ball back and walked downfield. The Indians scored with Dillon plunging into the endzone. Hoxie missed the extra point, and the game was tied 18-18. The end of the 3rd quarter came.
The start of the 4th quarter, neither team could move the ball. The time was winding down slowly, and the Eagles were slowly making their way downfield. With about 2 minutes left, the Eagles scored on a screen pass to put them ahead after converting the extra point, 26-18. Hoxie obtained the ball again, and ran it to about the 50. Hoxie had to throw the ball with the time winding down to 20 seconds. The Indians threw an interception. Colby held the ball, and won over the Hoxie Indians 26-18, making it the first loss of the season for the Indians. Next week, they will take on the Oberlin Red Devils at Oberlin.
