The Junior High Volleyball “A” team finished their season by placing fifth at the NWKL tournament at Atwood on Thursday, Oct. 19.  They ended the season with a final record of seven wins and six losses.  The Lady Indians’ first match was with Colby.  The Lady Indians played well but couldn’t overcome their service errors and lost the match 21-25 and 22-25.

The Rawlins County Lady Buffs were the next opponent.  The first game of the match was close with Hoxie prevailing 25-23.  The Lady Indians took control the next game and won easily by the score of 25-6.

The final match of the night was against the St. Francis Indians whom the Lady Indians had defeated twice earlier in the season.  The Lady Indians fell behind in the first game 11-16 but they fought back and won 25-22.  In the final game, the Lady Indians took a 15-8 lead held off the Indians to win 25-20.

“From the beginning of the season the girls showed both individual and team  improvement.  Every game the team played better than the previous games.  I was very proud of the effort of the girls put forth throughout the season,”  stated Coach Kathy Bergin.
